Stormgate’s Early Access Season 1 Leaderboard Champions

It takes special dedication to pour dozens or even hundreds of hours into playtesting an Early Access game, knowing anything and everything might change over the course of development. It takes even more to commit that much time and effort to a demanding competitive 1v1 mode in a real-time strategy game like Stormgate.

While many prospective players are still waiting patiently for our initial Vanguard campaign to be complete and the launch of 1.0, a very special group of incredibly skilled and committed RTS players have been pouring their passion and energy into playtesting Stormgate on the 1v1 competitive ladder, competing in grassroots community tournaments, and providing our developers with the valuable data and feedback that has been at the core of countless recent improvements to the game.

We recently flipped the switch on the ranked ladder to introduce new matchmaking logic and other functionality, necessitating the reset of our very first Early Access leaderboard. We’d like to thank ALL of the players who have played Stormgate during this first phase of Early Access and look forward to seeing you play even more with each successive patch and evolution of the game.

Early Access Season 1 Leaderboard Champions

First, we’d like to call out our top players by faction at the end of Early Access Season 1 (previously referred to as Season Zero), as ranked by MMR:

#1 Overall and #1 Infernal Host: Andreas (aka BANG BANG FIRE)

#1 Human Vanguard: ROFL

#1 Celestial Armada: ARMA

Interestingly enough, these aren’t just the #1 players at their respective factions. Stormgate’s top talents often play on second (or even third!) accounts. Andreas claimed the #1, #2, and #3 top spots on the overall leaderboard (one account going a perfect 55-0) in a truly dominant performance.

Early Access Season 1 ‘Countdown Champions’

Next, we asked players to send off our first Early Access ladder season with a bang by racking up as many wins as they could during the countdown to the reset. Andreas did exactly that. He played 238 games over the course of a week… and won 235 of them.

For the Vanguard, ROFL was on track to secure the top spot as well, except he was overtaken by none other than jayxp123, who narrowly snatched away victory with 210 wins vs. ROFL’s 198.

We reached out to jayxp123 to ask him what it’s been like to follow Stormgate’s development as an avid competitor:

“Watching Stormgate evolve from its early days to now has been incredible! I started playing from the second alpha, and I have been amazed by the progress that Stormgate has made both in gameplay and its visuals. I have seen the game mature from just stand-in models and basic game mechanics to the much refined, visually appealing, and strategically rich game that it is now. The developers are clearly passionate about making this a successful and fun game for everyone, and I hope to see what they have in store for the future. It has been an absolute honor to be part of the community, and I wish Stormgate the best!”

Finally, it was neck-and-neck at the top of the Celestials win rankings until LeinY pulled away, racking up more wins than PartinG, Stormgate’s Esports World Cup champion, with a final tally of 171 wins vs 152. LeinY had this to say about the Stormgate Early Access Season 1 experience:

“I'm having fun exploring new strategies and improving on a new game like this. As the game develops there is always something new I can try. It's also nice to see how the game itself improves in all areas and I hope it will be a success once it reaches 1.0."

We’d like to recognize other top players from the Stormgate community who also gave their all to give each other stiff competition and keep the grassroots competitive scene vibrant and exciting.
